Welcome
Nestled in the picturesque village of Shanklin, The St Leonards is a charming guest house surrounded by natural beauty, captivating landscapes and a rich historical heritage.
We boast a variety of well-appointed rooms, designed to provide a welcoming atmosphere where you can expect tastefully decorated interiors, modern amenities and a comfortable stay. Indulge in a delightful breakfast each morning, freshly prepared and made from locally sourced ingredients.
With its stunning coastline and rolling hills, the Isle of Wight presents a diverse array of attractions and activities. From the iconic Needles and Osbourne House to water sports or serene coastal walks. There’s an abundance of activities to suit every visitor.
Since 1930, The St Leonards Guest House has been providing the ideal Isle of Wight holiday experience. In 2017, I had the privilege of taking over this remarkable historical building, leaving the mainland behind to become the proud owner. Over the years, I have dedicated myself to transforming each guest room into a haven of comfort and style, while also revamping the garden/patio area and driveway.
My passion lies in creating an inviting and welcoming home-away-from-home environment, where every guest can create lasting memories during their short break or extended holiday. It has been an absolute joy to have the opportunity to meet and connect with incredible individuals from all corners of the globe.
The St Leonards Guest House takes immense pride in its recent accomplishments, having received the esteemed 2020 Bronze Award and the prestigious 2022 Silver Award in the Best Guest House Category at the renowned Red Funnel Isle of Wight Awards.
Whether you are a returning visitor or discovering The St Leonards Guest House for the first time, you can expect a warm and heartfelt welcome, accompanied by a memorable stay. Your comfort and satisfaction are at the forefront of everything we do, as we strive to create an experience that you will fondly remember long after you’ve left our doorstep.

EXCELLENT Based on 125 reviews Posted on Booking Martin10Verified A stylish, well-appointed guest house with a welcoming host, comfortable, thoughtfully equipped room ☺ A warm welcome, comfortable and stylish room and lounge, very good breakfast, a good central location ☹ Nothing.Posted on Booking Philippe10Verified ExceptionalPosted on Booking Migena8510Verified Perfect place to rest, relax, move around in the Island. ☺ The perfect place to rest. Peaceful, clean, has everything you need. Great location 5 min walk from the centre and the sea. I escaped the business in London to relax a bit, and this place really helped me to do so. The owner is very kind and tried to meet all my needs. You also have included a nice breakfast with different options. I went for the English breakfast and was freshly prepared at the moment. The single room on the top had a lovely compfy bed, a nice and clean bathroom, and 2 windows which is not obvious for smaller rooms like a single. There is also outside space where you can relax, have a drink. I am really happy with the whole experience, will come back. Shanklin is a beautiful town, and you can easily go anywhere from there with buses if you don't have a car like me. One of the bus stops (the coaster) it is just in front of the guest house.Posted on Booking N20228.0Verified Very goodPosted on Booking Glenn10Verified Happy campers ☺ First impressions immaculate in decoration and cleanliness, a warm welcome from Pat the hostess and owner. Our room was really comfortable and very modern in decoration , en-suite bathroom with all mod-cons. TV and USB charging sockets. Breakfast was gorgeous with proper butcher's sausages 😋 and perculated coffee was so good. We loved staying at Pat's and highly recommend. ☹ Everything was perfect.Posted on Booking Liu10Verified ExceptionalPosted on Booking Clodagh10Verified This was our first visit as a family of 3 to the IOW. Due to high demand for the ferry crossing we could only get a 0720 ☺ St Leonards is spotlessly clean. Our family room for 3 was lovely, bright and spacious. Pat the owner has a fully stocked ‘Honesty’ bar, with a beautiful terrace outside for evening drinks. Pat has thought of everything you need. This being our first time to the IOW, Pat was happy to guide us on where to visit. she is a mindful of local information. ☹ There was nothing not to love about St Leonards.Posted on Booking Farquhar10Verified Fabulous!!!! ☺ Hotel staff couldn’t do enough to make our stay great and the facilities were excellent for price and location. Would stay again and tell friends and family to stay here. ☹ N/APosted on Booking Graham9.0Verified SuperbPosted on Booking Mike9.0Verified Excellent short break made better by the accommodation
